Can I Earn Money with Direct Selling companies? or “Party plan” companies?
I am almost certain that anyone who has ever needed a consistent amount of extra cash flow in their life has at one stage or another looked into joining a direct sales company of some sort. but the Big question is “Can I Earn Money with Direct Selling companies” well the answer is plain and simple but first let me explain what direct selling is.
What is Direct selling?
Direct selling is the marketing and selling of products directly to consumers away from a fixed retail location. Peddling is the oldest form of direct selling. Moderndirect selling includes sales made through the party plan, one-on-one demonstrations, and other personal contact arrangements as well as internet sales. *taken from wikipedia* so basically if you choose to join a direct sales company you will be being doing parties in one way or another, whether it be via facebook, face to face, online, mail etc. you will be promoting a product which you will then earn commission off.
Direct sales is a great way to earn extra income or replace a full time wage BUT you must take into consideration the following before deciding which company to join:
- Are you passionate about the product?
- Do you use the products in your own personal life each day?
- Are the products something you are willing to tell everyone about?
- Have you established a connection with someone from the company?
- Are you willing to work in order to gain?
- Have you taken the time to understand what it means to represent that company?
- Does their compensation plan give you what your needing?
- HAve you established whether or not yo want to do this casually, part time or full time? once you have figured this out, you will find it easier to decide which company to join.
Why Should you join a Direct sales Company?
When you join a Direct sales company, you are joining an already established business and product base. Although your building your customer base from scratch, bet is that a lot of people you know have more than likely already head of the products of whatever it is your planning to sell. Another great thing with direct Sales is that you get out what you put in, for example if your a stay at home mum and treat your company as a full time job you will get a full time wage, if your someone who works 50 hours a week and are doing this just as a hobby on the weekend, you will be pain accordingly.
Direct Sales is such a great option as there really is no limit to your income, you don’t need to wait years to move up the ranks like a 9-5 job. i Promoted 5 times and had a team of over 50 people underneath me within my first year of starting my own business and journey with Scentsy. I’m not by any means saying i did that easily, I worked my butt off while managing a 6 month old and becoming pregnant with my second child. I put in the hours and it most definitely paid off.
Another great reason to join a Direct sales company is if you are someone who cant seem to find somewhere that they feel suits them, or they aren’t “qualified” enough for. To be successful at direct sales you just need passion and a love for what your selling because if you don’t believe in your product, how can you expect anyone else to?
“I Don’t know enough people to be successful”
This statement is something i have heard a lot from people looking to join my team and what i ask them to do is write down a list of as many people you know, it could be friends, family, acquaintances, your Dr, vet, receptionist at your real estate office or a clinic you visit, other mums from the school drop of, teachers, the check out chick at your local grocery store, post man, the people in your facebook groups etc basically anyone you have contact with on a regular basis. After doing this most people are astonished at the fact they have just exceeded 100 people on their list and when you really think about it, its not that hard to see why. Now imagine if you gave all those people a catalogue to share with their friends and family? and they do the same thing, can you see how easily your customer potential quicly grew? So now say to yourself ” I know enough people people to be successful, I CAN do this!”
You MUST Be Passionate About What Your Selling.
In order to be successful with any sort of Direct Sales you must be passionate about what it is your trying to sell people. Have You ever walked into a store all excited to buy something new and the sales rep has been unpleasant and unenthusiastic about what it is you went in for? how did this make you feel? did it put a dampen on your whole experience making you not wanting to go back there? DON’T be that person. As a Direct Sales consultant it is your job to learn all about your product and absolutely LOVE and believe in it and everything it stands for. If you love your product and think its the best thing in the world, those around you will want to see what all the fuss is about and try it for themselves.
Remember You Are Essentially Starting Up Your Very Own Business.
Even though you Are a Representative of a bigger company and their products as an independent consultant you are expected you treat your business as if you whee starting your own business from scratch. The only difference is, your company has hopefully given you all the tools, and training necessary to help you get started and be successful. But in the end it really does come down to you and how you represent and market yourself.
When you start up a business you don’t just out in minimal effort and expect to be successful. In the Beginning especially you need to work, work, work and get your name out there! Make sure everyone know who you are, what your selling and why they should come to you for those particular products. Remember success takes time and effort. The best thing to do in the beginning of your business, as soon as you hit that join button is to start thinking about hosting your very own launch party. Invite friends, family, co-workers and neighbors to your house to help you launch your new business. Ensure you let them know your not expecting them all to come and give you all their money, you mostly want to show them what your business is all about and how excited you are to start your journey.
